The FAB&PP Poem of the Month for June 2007

TWO REUNION POEMS
one with quotations and one without

Callas is
narrated through
her fame and
des
peration on the
same pace as i
read the new
old life
of Dylan
Thomas

they finish
on the same
day

volumes closed
recodings
set
aside
        for now

brilliant
            short
lives said
to have been
“flawed”

and the
reader listens
for “perfection”

gazes about
and back

at his own
per
formances

and cries

“Bravo”
this morning
i felt an itch
and reached up
and pulled
out a
curling nose
hair
      christ
it had to be
over an inch
and a half
long;
        i mean,
who do
you tell
that to?
