The FAB&PP Poem of the Month for July 2006

Two Back Window Poems

the ducks
plow
through
the pond
scum
like ice-
breakers

their wake
marking the
settling water

backyard
contrails
after the
floods

starlings feeding
on my back
lawn
        black
dinosaur
daughters of
peking
           ducks

surviving the
comet and
my baleful
stare
        with
equal
aplomb

where are the
cats
       when
you need
them
