The FAB&PP Poem of the Month for December 1999

two poems about autumn

1.

leaf piles rotting in
the morning dew
in
late November

the smoldering smell
and fetid warmth
rises from the gutter muck
to greet the
shortened day

pretending there is
a future

2.

like driving the
convertable in a
light rain

you think:

keep going
    and
you won’t get
wet
