The FAB&PP Poem of the Month for January 1999

the clock
will last ten
thousand years
ticking
once
a day
twenty-eight
bit bites devouring
space

concentric wheels
rotating
in display

each century
it strikes
passing
generations
instead
of time

and every
thousand years
a cuckoo
cries

inquiring:

who will pay and
who will wind
