The FAB&PP Poem of the Month for March

Two poems

i.

greeted by an
ancient acquaintance
warmed by friends
    reminders
all

that time's both
infinite and singular
and life's

connections are
as permanent
    as
the morning glow
of spring
which radiates
    all
year
    through the
obituary winter

circling in heaven

(and at dawn

ii.

the white woman on the
subway watches the black
girl write out her
homework

slouching against
the passage door
almost asleep

    the
white woman's black
eyeglass rims
unabashed

she stares down at the
page
